A great tool

Like most of these gizmos, using the Polar cs200cad initially is a bit confusing: "What does this menu mean, why are the buttons so hard to press, manual and website written by chumps?", etc. But within a couple of rides youll be wondering how you coped without it. So far works perfectly (1 week) and very easy to set up, if you dip into the manual when necessary.

Pros.
1. Does the job; you quickly forget about it and just use it.
2. A real shock to see how you are really working out.
3. Comfortable chest strap.

Cons (mostly subjective, and comparing to top of line):
1. Polar branding on bike meters. Could attract some thieves (will cover with duct tape)
2. Wireless meters seem a little large. Not that this matters - just an aesthetic thing.
3. Chest strap not nec. the best for commuting. Perhaps a less accurate wrist strap option?
4. Not a power meter (but doesnt claim to be - and isnt priced as such)
5. Cant program a workout to follow (as far as I know).
6. Can only upload to Polar web via not the most reliable sonic link. Cant use with Polar top of line software.
7. Speed not displayed at all times.
8. Do these gizmos really have to cost so much. Materials and production must be zilch, so be prepared to pay for good R&D and brand.

Total cycle computer

I already have a polar monitor for a mixture of swimming, running and cycling but decided that I needed something a bit more permanent for the bike.

Yes you can get different makes of cycling computers, which have all the options of the polar but it is a tried and tested name with good training support from their website.

The spec of HR monitor and cadence included gives a varied array of views and training targets while on the move. It was simple to set up even if you think the distance of the transmitters are bit close.

The extra option of the cadence monitor gives you a good option for keeping economical cycling, which for me keeps me spinning instead of trying to power my way around a ride.

I did shop around and there are good deals out there knocking upto £40 off the most expensive shops.

As a product I am more than satisfied with what it has to offer and think it would suit all levels of cyclists.

Polar value for money

star rating - 4 out of 5star rating - 4 out of 5star rating - 4 out of 5star rating - 4 out of 5

Im new to cycling but Ive used polar heart rate monitors for years, I thought long and hard about the benefits of having HR, Cadence and multi function cycle computer in one unit. Really glad I decided to part with the money, excellent value. easy to set up, clear screen, and a great help with training at a glance. Great workout summary after you finish, but miss being able to see when my heart rate has recovered after cool down and stretch. Id need to stay within 3 feet of bike to monitor it and thats not always possible.
